Collection: ROSIE GORDON

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rosie Gordon is a born and raised Byron Bay local who spent her youth teaching herself photorealism from her family home in Ewingsdale. She completed a Bachelors of Fine Arts at the National Art School and Southern Cross Uni, and has received multiple art awards including five People's Choice Awards and an Emerging Artist Award at the Northern Rivers Portrait Prize (now the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize) judged by Michael Zavros.

Gordon has a diverse range of art skills ranging from realism to abstract, and her commercial endeavours include original artworks and murals for local cafes and shops and luxury guest houses. Recently, inspired by the stories voiced by women, she produced a series of works titled ‘Inner Worlds’ around restoring the feminine, which featured in her solo show at The Old Pacific in Newrybar in 2023.

PORTALS EXHIBITION, 5-26 APRIL 2024

Portals explores moments of lucidity and aims to cultivate optimism and reconnection.

Gordon looks at moments that bring awareness of something greater than ourselves. Moments that provide us with a direct channel to the source of all creation. By engaging in art, nature or ritual Gordon believes we can create the conditions that bring about awareness.

Working intuitively with oils on canvas, linen or board and incorporating layers of colour, tone and texture, Gordon's work speaks to the process of unlearning and letting go of conditioning and control, becoming free enough to create something new.
